Prerequisite: Algebra I and Geometry
This course is designed to build and expand on topics from Algebra I and Geometry. It develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, and quadratics. The contents of this course are important for students’ success on both the ACT and college mathematics entrance exams as well as in Pre-Calculus classes and beyond. Using the textbook Algebra 2 by Holt, Rinehart and Winston, we will explore the concepts of linear equations; operations and properties of numbers; systems of equations; matrices; quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, polynomial, rational and radical functions; conic sections; counting and probability.

A graphing calculator is recommended however a basic calculator will suffice for most situations and graphing calculators will be available when necessary.
You will be expected to come to class on time and prepared to work.
Final grades will be based on three equal categories: daily homework, graded work including quizzes and projects, and tests.
